I just finished KlK (amazing) but this scene is one of my favorites (Spoilers) The plan to stop Ragyo was over 15 years in the making, and Dr. Matoi/Kiryuin left almost the whole thing riding on Ryuko amd Satsuki. But they were the biological part of the plan, relying on the power they got from their mother. The other part of his contribution was his breakthrough with the Kamui, though. He found out how to make a suit using 100% life fibers by keeping the armor revealing enough to keep the wearer in tune with their body, while Satsuki's team could only go up to 30% before the fibers took them over. Iori was able to to make the ultimate 3-star outfits (which probably had a much, much higher life fiber %) by applying this principle. They stood up to Ragyo herself, and if they had been able to figure it out before the final cocoon was made, I think the E4, Satsuki, and Ryuko would have been strong enough to defeat her.
